Full of fruits that are in season year round, this salad comes together with a quick chop, scoop and stir.

Summer Fruit Salad

During the summer months we try and eat as much watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew as possible. We really love melon season around here.

I love to combine the three melons plus a pineapple or perhaps a deliciously ripe mango for an amazing fruit salad. I could really eat just that fruit salad for a meal in those hot miserable months in Arizona.

However, in the winter months when those yummy, crisp melons aren’t ripe and the weather is a little cooler, I still love a nice easy fruit salad. This salad was born when I was taking dinner to a friend and I needed a simple side dish to bulk up the meal.

Making Do With What You Have

I chopped up all the fruit I had in the house, topped it with some plain yogurt and a bit of maple syrup and it paired perfectly with the dinner I had put together.

Since that day I have made it countless times. I get asked often for the recipe. I kind of feel like it’s a let down when it is so simple and there is no secret ingredient or hoop of fire you have to jump through. So I will let you down now. This is very simple and will take you no time to put together.

Flexible and Easy

The ingredients are flexible but I will tell you what I do and you can change them based on preference or what you have lying around ready to be eaten up. It is easily made dairy free with dairy free yogurt.

Sometimes when I am going for a fancier vibe I add some nuts. I love to use the honey nuts from the notes of this smoothie bowl recipe.

It is just chopped pecans, honey and cinnamon toasted together in the oven for about 8 minutes but plain pecans or almonds or whatever other nut you love could be good too.
