Do you love pudding but can’t have dairy at your house? This seed pudding is nutritious, super easy and delicious!
Much Better Blended!
I had chia seed pudding for the first time years ago and it was ok. I made it on and off for my kids but I never loved it. Recently, I tried it again but did a blended version and I like it so much better.
This particular recipe was developed when we were on a very strict diet with one of my kids and every ingredient had to be scrutinized. This is my favorite way to make it now.

Variety of Seeds
The recipe also calls for a seed mixture. I make and keep this seed mixture in my pantry and use it in breads and smoothies and all sorts of delicious things.
The seed mixture is a combination of flax seeds, chia seeds, hemp hearts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds and sometimes millet. If you have a few different seeds you can use them in whatever combination you have available. Don’t feel like you have to buy every one of these seeds.
Using a combination of seeds changes the nutrition profile because each seed has different benefits, vitamins and minerals but if all you have are chia seeds then you can definitely make it with just those.

Cashews for the Win
The addition of the cashews makes the ending pudding a little creamier, which I love. It also takes the place of dairy free milk and so I can get away with just using water – simple and less ingredient lists to worry about!
My favorite way to eat this pudding is with sliced bananas and a few crunchy nuts on top. Yum! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Blended Chocolate Chia and Seeds Pudding
⅓ cup chia seeds
⅓ cup seed mixture (or more chia seeds)
½ cup raw cashews
3 cups water
¼ cup cacao or cocoa powder
½ cup pure maple syrup (See Notes)
2 pinches of salt
Place all the ingredients into a high powered blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into a bowl. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use. It is best once it has cooled at least an hour. Serve with your favorite toppings! We love bananas and chopped nuts.

Tweak It Notes
- SEED MIXTURE – This is the recipe I use for the seed mixture but if you want to just use chia seeds, the recipe turns out the same.
- SWEETENER – With this amount of maple syrup the pudding is not super sweet. If you want it sweeter, add more maple syrup. You can also use honey or coconut sugar.
